Boring, then fun, then really really cold.

We got called to be extras on a for a movie. Called on Thursday, be there at 2pm Friday. Okaaaay.

So frankly the day was spent waiting in the common room at the museum village. It took forever. Finally after 5pm we find out its a night shoot. Seriously? I would have kept my kids home for naps and dinner and arrived later.

Eventually we did go stand in the snow. Its an 1812 movie, hence the use of the village. The building we were filming beside is actually the Inn but for our purposes it was our house. And it was a-burning! Hot time in the old town tonight for sure.

Interesting stuff. They had a large globe shaped lantern inside the inn. It was covered in red tissue. Beside it they had a smoke machine. The drive shed (where the carriages are kept) just behindand to the side of the inn also had a smoke machine in it. The door was open a crack to let the smoke billow. Behind the inn out of view really was a bonfire. And in front of the camera was a pipe, upside down L shape. It burned too, flammable liquid was pumped into it. Also they were burning a wooden sign post, or sort of anyway, they painted it with the liquid.

We had to run to the right of a tree by the inn, why we were running back towards the burning home I hve no clue, perhaps we were going to roast marshmallows... Anyway then we would veer left and run past the camera. We did this many time. Dry run, take one, needs to tighten up, take tow, need to get the horse (yes a horse! and he did not like the smoke and flames let me tell you) , ned to tget the horse moving faster, then shots of the the family staring sadly at their burning home. \

The family shot, they didn't use all the extras of course (Not the Duggars family here) but they did use myself, the Little Princess, friend MJ, her granddaughter who is 12 and one man from the cast. I don't think the Princess was needed, she could have left with the Drama Queen who went off with G-ma. Simply because they told me to cuddle both children to me. So me, with my arm around a 12 year old and my 3 year old in front of us..filmed from behind? I truely don't think she was even seen.

It was night, it was cold and we were in granny boots. My feet froze. I enjoyed it but I think next time, I'd like a nice night in July.

Then I went off to a Valentines night at the bellydance studio...still wearing a million layers I put on for filming. As a result I pulled off my jeans so I could dance and ended up in knee length exercise pants with black and orange tights. Knees down, Wicked Witch of the East. And we ewren't bellydancing, it was pole dancing (skipped that) and a sexay chair dance... You can't be sexaaaay in those tights. But you get a lotta laughs.
